Here comes the Google Wave
We all know how leaky the net is. Is there a soap you don’t know the plot of? A new album you haven’t had a sneak preview of? A film you can go and see without seeing the spoilers that may well ruin a perfectly nice cinematic surprise? (And on that last one, I’m currently still smarting from having the film Moon ruined for me by an over keen online reviewer, curse you).
So, when Google announced Google Wave back in May, it came as a bit of a surprise. It was new. It sounded exciting. And no one was expecting it. Nice to think there are still a few secrets out there in web-land.
If you’re web savvy and you’re paying attention to the online world, you won’t be able to miss Google Wave a few weeks from now. So, in true internet fashion, I’m going to give you a cheeky preview of the next big thing online …
*SPOILER ALERT!* ONLY READ ON IF YOU WANT TO KNOW WHAT GOOGLE WAVE CAN DO FOR YOU!
But what is it exactly? And why are you reading about it here on 360°’s blog? Google Wave is a real-time communication tool. One that will change not only email, but the web as well. If it works as well as the reviewers say, it could be a great means of communicating your message – be that recruitment, HR, education or … anything else for that matter.
Google Wave will utilise and mingle the best elements of email, instant messaging, chat, social networks, wikis and personalised project management. A complete communication resource in your browser – that you can share with friends or business partners. That means you can communicate in a sleek and professional way to people – or groups of people - of your choosing. Imagine the possibilities.
Google Wave will be released on September 30th.
