RECaid
Advertising. It’s all about ‘me’ people. Selling your soul so that you can sell anything to anyone. Isn’t it? Maybe Bill Hicks was right, those of us within the industry are - and I quote – “Satan’s little helpers” … or maybe, just maybe (with all due respect to the genius of the late Mr Hicks) he got it wrong.
It hasn’t been an easy time for anyone recently. When the economy suffers, advertising revenue suffers. And when the job market collapses, recruitment advertising really takes a beating. That can lead to even more problems for those of us within the industry. Reduced agency income can mean job losses - at the very time when there are fewer opportunities out there. So it warms the heart in these dark days to see the industry pull together and do something genuinely kind.
Ours is a small industry. And when a large agency recently went into freefall, making redundancies days before being bought by another agency, leaving many people without jobs or redundancy payouts, word spread fast. That’s when RECaid was set up. With the help of NABS, RECaid is a fund that will help out those within our industry who are facing very real difficulties right now. As we’re in the business of advising others on how to engage, recruit and retain the best talent, it only seems right that we lead the way in looking after our own.
More about the fund can be found at www.recaid.co.uk.
